I.C.E. Interdisiplinary Cooperative Education Program

I took the ICE program  my senior year of high school. And this program actually helped me out quite a lot in many ways. In one way it helped me out financially, and it also helped out at work. How to develop my skills at work. By learning how to install stereos, back up cameras, and other components in a vehicle. I currently work at GNC Customs and I enjoy my job. In this program I’ve learned some work ethics, I’ve also developed my knowledge on how to do things properly.

Dr. Who ~ Episode “Blink”

This is an episode we (the class) watched in English class. It was a pretty interesting episode, called “Blink”. Creepy but interesting how it can relate to class topics. Like this episode relates to what we are watching right now in class, which is all about Sci-fi and Fantasy.

Dr. Who is considered Sci-fi, because it’s mainly about traveling in time. In this particular episode showed time travel through a machine called “Tardis”, but it also showed horror. The statues AKA the weeping angels were scary. Sally a young women that played in that episode was a victim. Her friends’ brother Larry a guy that owns a DVD shop helps her solve her case.

This episode also had me kind of traumatized, I went to walmart the next day and saw some statues. They are not angels. I walked past them and that kind of freaked me out. I thought they were staring at me for some reason. So I didn’t “Blink” and left.
LOL

Achieve Your Goal

Achieving your goal might seem hard, or sometimes even impossible. But when you commit to something you will achieve your goal. I think it’s just something mental that you have to think of. Putting effort into it will help you work and get it done.

To achieve your goal, there’s steps to take.

My goal was to help my co-works finish a project that we had at work. The project was about doing a custom system in a Corvette. This is the process in the work we did in it. This was the back part of the corvette. It goes in the trunk. We also did a custom box, and we put some material(in the trunk) called roadkill, in order for the vibration(or AKA sound-damping)  to go away.

To get the car done we had to put effort to finish and make the customer happy with the product and our labor.

A Long Way Gone~ Memoirs of a boy Soldier~ Ishmael Beah

A Long Way Gone is a book written by Ishmael Beah, It’s a Memoir about a boy Soldier. More like a true story about his life. He became a soldier, during war. He didn’t become a soldier by will, He became a soldier in order to survive the war.

We used a strategy in class to understand this book even better. This is “What good readers do while reading to understand and remember”. QQCOP is what the strategy is called, which stands for:

Question- Any question we have about the book.
Quote- Language you notice by reading. Something like interesting, important or funny that may get your attention.
Connection- Something in the book that reminds you of something else. Like a memory, another book or history.
Observation-Literally elements you notice
Prediction- Say what you expect to happen next after what you read, based on the text.

I enjoyed this book and the activities we did in class. This strategy helped me to pay more attention to the book by making these connections. This book itself was also interesting and sad at the same time. Sad because these kids and people had to go through this war and a situation like this. Whats interesting about it is How Ishmael survived.

After doing all of these activities we did another one called a Socratic Seminar. There were different topics about the same book. My discussion about this was a quote from the book where an old man says “My children, this country has lost its good heart.” I think this quote was talking about how their country, in Sierra Leon where their government is corrupt. It lost its good hear because the government doesn’t care about the people and just wants to take over.

Graphic Novels and Comics

What is the difference between comic books and graphic novels?

Well the main difference between these two books is that the comic books are normally short. They have dialogs in ballons on the pictures. They are separated in parts in one page. Some pictures have captions and some don’t.

Preparing for a Special Event

Preparing for some type of event takes time. This event was mostly to inform people about the newest technologies and products that can enhance your mobile connectivity, audio experience and car security. We encouraged people to attend to this event. We showed our customers how we could serve them with what we have.

While preparing for this event we had to do a project with the shops car. In this car we did a custom system and a remote start. Which is pretty neat on these type of weathers. So you don’t have to turn your car on; so that way you can just wake up push a button get ready and then your car is already turned on and it is ready to go. So you don’t have to wake up in the cold and then turn it on and run back in.

This even was successful. I really liked this event and how working together as a team we could achieve more and get prepared for this special event.

This even was at GNC Customs.

And Then There Were None

“And Then There Were None” is a mystery story. It is written by Agatha Christie. This mystery story was really a mystery Story. It just makes you think, follows the song/poem that is written.

It’s curious how the people Die and how the Ten Little Indians start to disappear from the Table. It all follows the poem and happens when less expected. The people in the island just stay “alert” for the next one to die. But they are all wondering who’s the killer. Because there’s no one else around the Island but them. So the killer must be one of them.

The Song is :

Ten little Indian Boys went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.

Nine little Indian Boys sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.

Eight little Indian Boys travelling in Devon;
One said he’d stay there and then there were seven.

Seven little Indian Boys chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.

Six little Indian Boys playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.

Five little Indian Boys going in for law;
One got in Chancery and then there were four.

Four little Indian Boys going out to sea;
A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.

Three little Indian Boys walking in the zoo;
A big bear hugged one and then there were two.

Two little Indian Boys sitting in the sun;
One got frizzled up and then there was one.

One little Indian Boy left all alone;
He went out and hanged himself and then there were none.

SCORPIONS By Walter Dean

Scorpions is a really good book from what I’ve read so far. I’m enjoying the book, this book is actually better than what I thought. The main character being in jail and his younger brother taking over his gang while he gets out makes the story more interesting. Jamal The kid that’s 12 years old is trying to get his older brother out of prison. His mother is working as hard as she can to collect the money to bail him (Randy) out of jail.

Jamal is having a bad time in school with another kid named Dwayne. He’s describer as a big and chubby guy. But Jamal is not scared of him nor anyone.

Mack Randy’s best friend tells Jamal that Randy had told him that he wanted Jamal to take over the Scorpions. Jamal doesn’t want to join the gang but he just wants his brother to get out of jail so his mother can live in peace. Jamal’s mother is just to worried about Randy being in jail.
